Be consistent, be disciplined, dream big, control your mind and body, how to earn money, positivity, focus, good habits blah blah blah…

These are some of the most common words in any self-help book out there, and YES, I know these things are necessary in life, but you don’t need a book to understand their importance. I don’t want to sound negative but almost every self-help book can be summarized in a blog or a short essay. But why are there so many self-help books on the market, why are authors reshuffling the same motivational mantras repeatedly and publishing new books? — Simple Answer: MONEY. More than 90% of those books are written for the benefit of the author, not you.

Well, enough roasting self-help books(I may write some in the future for money…haha). But what’s the reason people like reading them? — Because everyone loves the fake dopamine by short-term outer motivation when someone tells them “They can do it.“. People like thinking of acting instead of actually acting.

So what should you do? DON’T READ THEM!

Some suggestions from me:

  • Read biographies of kings, inventors, scientists, etc. (Dictators too)
  • Read books that increase your knowledge database — microeconomics, physics, history, psychology.
  • Read the philosophies of great thinkers — Socrates, Plato, Aristotle. Read Stoicism.
  • Read anything to increase your knowledge and to increase your level of consciousness.

And remember one thing(actually two) — your inner motivation and the will to act is enough motivation you need. I’m not a hyper-successful motivational speaker who’s just gibbering random motivation to give you fake dopamine, these are just some recent realizations of mine that worked for me and I hope they will work for you too.

So in conclusion, here are the takeaways: Don’t read garbage, Read good books, You can always skim a bad book if you don’t like it from the start.

Thanks for reading. I too like writing some self-help shit. Like this one? Then subscribe to my newsletter(won’t mind if you’ll share it too).
