Analysis Paralysis — Aaah…What should I write?

Let’s face it — nobody wants to read another boring essay. The internet is flooded with them, and they’re about as exciting as watching paint dry. As a writer, I’ve come to realize that the key to crafting engaging content is to write about what genuinely interests me.

If you’ve perused my previous posts, it’s easy to distinguish between the ones born out of genuine curiosity and passion and the ones I churned out just for the sake of SEO and visibility on Google. That’s where the dilemma arises for someone like me, torn between the desire to create interesting and informative content and the necessity of optimizing for search engines.

🙀 Crisis

Writing is a wonderful habit that allows me to document the knowledge I’ve collected over time. However, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. The real problem kicks in when I start overthinking its success (or failure).

When I took a step back to ponder why I started this newsletter and why I write, it hit me like a ton of bricks. I embarked on this journey to share my wild ideas with people, to connect with them, and to exchange mind-blowing concepts I’ve encountered along the way. If someone subscribed to my newsletter after stumbling upon my website, they probably didn’t expect to receive an email with the subject line, “5 productivity life hacks to blah blah blah.”

If a reader doesn’t think this — “Woah, what a great piece of info…I should share it with someone” after my post or email, then no matter how demotivating and rude it sounds — either my writing sucks or my creativity does. If I’m not providing value to my readers then it’s just a typical newsletter that will be shut down after some months because I wasn’t earning one million dollars in passive income. (lol). No good in trying to acquire new subscribers when my current subscribers aren’t getting something already.

💡 Solution?

So, what’s the solution to this conundrum? Here’s what I’m thinking:

1. Clear Thinking First: Instead of drowning in a sea of more knowledge, I’ll prioritize becoming a clear thinker. After all, what’s the use of hoarding knowledge when I can’t even sift through the treasure I already possess? Multitasking might sound like the cool thing to do, but it’s often the bane of productivity. Focusing on one task at a time isn’t just easier; it’s the lifeline that rescues us from the clutches of analysis paralysis.

Clear Thinking >>> More Knowledge

2. Taking Swift Action: No more procrastination! If I’m engrossed in a book and stumble upon a brilliant idea or intriguing tidbit that I’m itching to discuss with friends, I’ll seize the moment. I won’t delay; I’ll jot down a short post right after finishing the book.

🤔 Why am I writing this?

You might be wondering, “Why is this person airing their insecurities on the internet?” Well, I’m not really talking to you; this is me talking to myself (I swear I’m totally sane 🤓).

As I penned these words, my mind stopped wandering, and I found my way out of the crisis. I’m feeling great about it (Yayy!). This post is now my go-to mantra whenever I feel the urge to procrastinate.

If you’ve made it this far, dear reader, I hope you’ve found something useful for yourself as well.

Alright, here are the key takeaways:

📝 Your work is no good if it can’t provide value for your target audience (reader in my case).

😄 Clear thinking should be the priority rather than collecting more knowledge.

🏃 Actions should be taken spontaneously once decided.

🖌️ Lastly, create something you would love to have.
